Anyone do anything other than pan fry them…? They are awesome that way, but looking to cut back on the grease. I heard you could put them under a hot broiler and crisp them nicely.
I find they are less greasy deep fried vs. pan frying.
Broiler is worth a try…but the price of crabs around here is scary when working on an experiment! I’m used to paying $2-$3 per crab!
Oh they were outstanding pan fried. You get a good dark crust on the top shell side. I saw a whole pbs thing about them along the Carolina coast ( NC and SC ), and thats how the guy did it. Although deep frying is great also. May give one a dusting of old bay and stick him under the broiler and see.
