I am in search of software that I can install on my pc, pull my chip out of the boat and be able to load and edit the info on the chip. I don’t want it to just be numbers and letters on a editing screen, but more like actually lays your info out on a navigation chart and you are able edit from there. Any suggestions. The info will be coming off from a HDS if that matters via an SD card.
I’ve got Garmin Mapsource software that does that, but it only works with Garmin. If anyone knows of a program you can do that with a Navionics chip, I’d love to know about it too.

Thanks Jim I will look into that. Gonna be joining MSC next thursday. Hope to see ya there
I’ve used Open CPN (free voyage management software) with pretty good luck for planning routes and managing waypoints. I always use another program called GPS Babel to convert to Lowrance-format .USR files, but I’m pretty sure the HDS will import GPX files directly (I’ve exported as GPX, never tried importing). Both free downloads.
It’s probably not the slickest way to do it, but it works, its free, and it’s a heck of a lot easier than trying to do it on the unit. You can also import/export to Google Earth (.KML) format with GPS Babel, which can be handy. I always set up a new track each trip, then export it to my SD card at the dock. I can then save it on the computer and make notes of conditions, what I caught, etc and play it back anytime to review. Also keeps a backup of all my waypoints. But I’m a nerd like that!
On a related note, does anyone know if you can export selected data from an HDS? I can only seem to get it to export everything, which is kind of annoying since I have thousands of waypoints, tracks, etc and don’t need to export them all every time, just the new stuff.
