give you $100 … if they are in sealed, factory containers. Not refills

They are sealed factory containers and not refills. No. Thank you for the offer.

No problem. I dont really need it.

BTW I bought some Quicksilver 2 stroke Syn Blend @ Walmart last month for <$20/g. Same stuff except different package and color.

Good to go. I hope the after market blend works out for you.

Thee are the types of conversations I like to investigate.

Both sides content in their knowledge/requirements/results per requirements.

Google is our friend.

I could settle for a LBFM but I would prefer Ms. USA

The OEM guy thinks he is right,

The aftermarket guy thinks hes right.

We get to do the research and find out for ourselves.

Do the research and get with us on the results.

The $20 Quicksilver oil at Wal Mart is not for DFI engines. Just carb 2 strokes.

The Premium Plus Synthetic is about $32 usually and it is the same stuff as the Mercury labeled oil. The Mercury labeled DFI oil is $32 gallon on Amazon. If you bought Premium Plus DFI Quicksilver from Wal Mart for $20 gallon, someone priced it wrong. Or, you actually have the regular 2 stroke oil. I know, as I have a carbed motor and buy it all the time from Wal Mart. However, even in my carb motor, if I run the DFI oil with the additives, it doesn’t smoke a bit and runs a little better. You get what you pay for.

Good Lord …

In January, I bought 3 gallons of Quicksilver synthetic DFI (direct fuel injection) oil for $19.95/gal at the West Ash Walmart

It is the same stuff that is being offered but in a silver container. It says ‘produced by Mercury Marine’ on the back. It is not after market grade

Did I get a deal? Appears so
Is the original poster offering one? Appears not

To the last poster … beware that the label on the Quicksilver DFI container states that it may not be appropriate in TCW3 situations aka non fuel injected engines

This is why I my circle of Fishin friends is so small.
Jeez

Quicksilver Premium Plus Synthetic Blend 2 Stroke Oil TC-W3
This is the oil Mercury’s latest tech bulletin recommends for Optimax Pro XS motors.
Best price I found: Academy $19.99

The oil lmw4551 is selling is the recommended oil for Optimax (non pro xs) DFI motors (per the latest Merc bulletin).
Best price I found: Amazon $32.70

I’m not posting to bash your pricing, but so others know the difference between the two oils and their retail price points.

Either way, I’m willing to pay $15 per gallon or approximately 50% of retail price.

New Oil Recommendation for All OptiMax Engine Models

Effective October 2010, Mercury OptiMax / DFI or Quicksilver DFI 2-Cycle engine oil is the recommended oil for all OptiMax models - including Pro XS. (The previous recommendation stated the use of Mercury Premium Plus 2-Cycle Outboard Oil in ProXS models and OptiMax oil in non-ProXS models.)
OptiMax / DFI oil is a superior oil when compared to the Premium Plus oil. While both products are high quality 2-cycle engine oils suitable for use in OptiMax engines, the OptiMax / DFI oil contains a higher percentage of additives that reduce carbon deposit formation.
Over time, under normal operating conditions, carbon deposits accumulate in the power cylinder (piston, cylinder head, liners). In most cases the carbon deposits do not create a problem, but carbon deposits that form on the piston - particularly behind the piston rings and piston skirts - can reduce engine life and performance.
OptiMax / DFI oil is specially formulated to prevent the carbon deposits from forming. It also does a better job of reducing existing carbon deposits than the Premium Plus oil. Going forward, the Operation, Maintenance and Warranty manuals for OptiMax outboards will recommend Mercury OptiMax / DFI or Quicksilver DFI 2-Cycle engine oil to help maximize engine life and performance.
Operation, Maintenance and Warranty and Service manuals are in the process of being updated and will contain the following:
Oil Recommendation
Recommended Oil Mercury OptiMax / DFI or Quicksilver DFI 2-Cycle Engine Oil
Mercury OptiMax / DFI or Quicksilver DFI 2-Cycle Engine Oil is recommended for your engine. If Mercury OptiMax / DFI or Quicksilver DFI 2-Cycle Engine Oil is not available, we recommend using Mercury or Quicksilver TC-W3 Premium Plus 2-Cycle Oil. Severe engine damage may result from use of an inferior oil.

" The oil lmw4551 is selling is the recommended oil for Optimax (non pro xs) DFI motors (per the latest Merc bulletin). Best price I found: Amazon $32.70" X 9 = $294.30 Plus shipping. I'm asking $300.00 or best reasonable offer.

Also - Thank you for clarifying the difference in oils and price points to a few members.

Good luck to all that believe in using the non prescribed oils. See ya on the water!
