Some small trout on the stono Sat

I couldn’t pass up this nice weather on Saturday and it’s been a while since I ran the boat so I headed out into the harbor looking for some fish. As usual, not much going on for me but I decided to switch it up and hit some of my old Kayak fishing spots on the Stono river and they produced. Thankfully the incoming tide made me more comfortable about not getting stuck but it was still a bit unnerving fishing that shallow. Plenty of long casts to the spot were required.
I didn’t play with any artificials today and all fish were caught on mud minnows. My buddy Adam and I managed a handful of small trout and a few decent ones that were let go. The bluefish ate about 3 dozen mud minnows, stopping at the heads. I had a flounder auto-release by the boat which was fine with me. Eating grouper tonight

All together an awesome day in December in the lowcountry. 80 degrees hell yeah!
