The man, Perry, was a true gentleman. Wanted to talk fishing and hunting. Is the engineer for a tug boat company and ex-swordfisherman. I offered him one of the combos, he said he had plenty of stuff. Offered him a fishing trip, he said he had his own boat. Offered him cash, he said “no man.” I finally got him to agree to take a large spool of braid in appreciation of his kind deed.
Sounds like Perry is a believer that a good deed is it’s own reward. Glad to hear you put in the extra effort in trying to show your appreciation.

I actually left my rods at the same car wash a few years ago…The word got around and after 3 months they were returned…Good on the person that turned them in!!!
Nice. Haddrells contacted me through this site a couple days ago to tell me they had found my lost g loomis rod I lost a couple months ago. It had been run over but hey pay fifty bucks and get a new one. Way to go Haddrells to contact you and to Perry for picking them up!!
Spot, that’s Perry Phant. Gooooood man and great family. Stand up guy who is a genuine sportsman. Truely great man and a real “fish” out of water. His daughter is married to my fishing partner and I’ve fished with him and his son. He doesn’t drink, so no need to offer. He’s always offered a lending hand.
Congrats on getting your rods back, good job Mr Perry, and glad to know that there are still great people in this world.
If you really want to get him something, call him when its time to have your motor serviced. He’s a mechanic on the side and enjoys working on motors more than making money.
only on THIS site, amazing!!! lowcountry citizens never cease to amaze me!!! if Perry Phant would like to take a day and fish with a friend on my boat, I would be honored!!! If anyone knows his info, (flip), pm, or expect a call…

Perry lives accross the street from me and I can tell all he is always there when anyone needs him. It doesn’t surprise me him doing this he is that kind of guy and I am lucky to call him my friend. The world needs a few more Perry’s.
Perry is one of the nicest people you could meet. He will help you in anyway possible & can fix almost anything. I worked with him for 11yrs and will always consider Perry a good friend.

I worked hundreds of hours @ Moran with Perry from 1993 through 2004 and he is a hell of a fellow.
(just don’t leave your minnow trap where he can find it)[:0]
