I left my rods in the first stall of car wash on Coleman at 6am on Saturday morning. Came back for them at 6:15 and a guy, in what looked like an F250 (not 100% sure as it was dark) was closing his tonneau cove on the side of the building. I pulled into the stall to find my rods gone. Jeremy Espiritu was cleaning his boat and was the only other person at the car wash. Jeremy said the other truck had been in my stall and was the only other vehicle that had been there since I left. The F250 looking vehicle had just pulled away heading south on Coleman. I tried to catch up to him but he was way ahead of me and disappeared around the first bend.
It was a group of 8 rods and reels all with braid. Two of the reels were new protype Pflueger Arbors of which only a few have ever been made. Those were spooled with white Invsibraid and on either Berkley cobalt rods or Allstar Platinums. Two of the reels were Penn AF reels with black Fireline. Two of the reels were AbuGarcia Sorans spooled with Berkley Tracer Braid. One regular Penn reel on a 7’6 AllStar rod with yellow 20lb Fireline. All were Allstar rods (mostly Platinum Series) except the two Berkley Cobalts.
I know the manager’s wife quite well, so I’ll chat with her to see what, if anything, may be suggested to help you get your stuff back. Not sure if that place has video surveillance or not. Bummer for you on that… We lost all our rods and reels a few summers ago headed down to the Keys while a buddy was pulling our boat entirely too fast - they blew out before we got onto 95… We went back to get them when another traveler flagged us down - someone got a ton of inshore and offshore equipment, gaff, net, etc… We had to hit World Wide Sports just to fish! Talk about an unexpected vacation expense!
Thanks guys. My rods have been returned. Thanks to Charleston Fishing, Haddrells Point, and a gentleman named Perry.
Never stolen just scooped up so they wouldn’t be. The finder of my rods called the car wash and told his co-worker, Perry. Perry called Haddrells and Haddrells contacted me via private message through Charleston Fishing.
