Something Big Lives Under The Ben Sawyer Bridge

FULL VIDEO - https://youtu.be/uORr_CYzTrI
Headed out with my Cuban friend Edrey from Miami to try sheepshead fishing with artificials. We got underway out of Shem Creek and started fishing under the Ben Sawyer Bridge on the Intercoastal Waterway. Edrey fished the new Zman Crawlz with Procure Blue Crab Scent https://amzn.to/2IBvMzr He caught several puffer fish and then hooked into something big. He fought the fish for a good 20 minutes and the 20lb leader broke. The reel was spooled with 10lb Power Pro. We never got a look at the fish so it could have been anything.

Good video…thanks for the effort.

It was a Goliath grouper I’m guessing.

Great video

Love mystery fish vids

Coincidentally I was watching a video of some guys down in FL catching larger grouper inshore around structure. Not sure if that is possible.

Maybe it was a shark?

Thx for posting

Maybe a big black drum?

Maybe a monster Red Fish.

Fish, Sleep, Repeat

I have caught quite a few huge butterfly rays in early fall under that bridge.

natureboy has been around a long time, I bet he’s right.

I’m going with big black drum.

When I fished lots off shore , every fish that broke off was a big grouper.

Big Ray.

Stonoman

Salt water chupacabra.

Those big butterfly rays get up around 100 and over lbs! I’ve only caught them in late august to early Nov.

State record sheep

RAY

with the recent reports of some goliath groupers in the low country, the possibility of it being a goliath is a consideration. but i think it is more likely to be a ray

Anything that pulls drag, right?
