Sons First Boar

My son was hunting with a friend near Chester and was able to finally pull the trigger on his new AR-10. They walked into a swamp feeder to fill it Friday afternoon before sitting the tower stand overlooking a very wet creek bottom. We all know that 14 year old boys aren’t exactly the quietest of creatures. About 30 minutes after they climbed into the stand they had 12 turkeys walk up to the feeder and start scratching. Another 30 minutes pass. In unison, all 12 birds look up towards a thicket on the edge of the bottom and begin their retreat. A few more minutes pass and out of the thicket walks this porker headed for the feeder. They watched him for a few minutes and regain their composure before my son levels the gun. Safety off. Steady breaths. Squeeze the trigger. One shot at 80 yards right behind the ear. Proud father of a proud son. Sausage is on the menu.

There’s a reason I’m close to the top of the food chain.
