Terrible. Caught about 10 shrimp and 9 of those we’re in a deep hole. Water was muddy, current was moving, we were on the bait. The shrimp just were not there. Saw several other boats and looked like they were having about the same luck. I don’t believe people are coolering out in the bay daytime at least. Worst year ever in the bay. Think I will wait until I see some positive reports next year before I waste the gas! I can drink beer and cast the net in the harbor and not have to drive so far. Out.
If you’re not catching, you gotta keep moving around till you find em. I was out there yesterday by myself and got a little over a half in four passes using the trolling motor. I’m sure if I had gotten there earlier in the morning and caught more of the incoming I would have coolered. When the tide slowed near high it went from 2 dozen plus per cast to 2 or three per cast so I left. I’m not going to tell you where, but a muddy bottom seems to be critical. It was fun doing the bulls bay boogie on the bow trying to control the boat and throw the net for sure. One other thing. Just because there are a ton of boats in one area doesn’t mean they’re catching anything. The closest boat to me was a 1/4 mile away.
Point taken but we were shrimping the same area that has produced for years. I suppose we could have driven around looking for them.
was out there yesterday for my token trip to the bay and pulled the poles after 2 hours and about 40 shrimp of very mixed sizes. Set up in 2-3 ft of water on the incoming, water was dirty and flowing yet never really did anything, my deepest pole was in 6 ft and I caught most of the shrimp on that pole. Oh well there is always next year
