Does anyone have any experience with the south fork (or north fork) of the edisto river. I am planning a 2/3 day trip and looking for boat landing suggestions, etc. Thanks
CM I’ve done some on the N.Edisto but a number of years back. We put in off hwy6 outside Pelion. Made it to O’burg in 3 days. A great trip but long. You only pass civilization 2 times on way down. My folks have a place on big Edisto below hwy15. There is an outfitter at 15 bridge. A good two day trip is from hwy 21 down to Colleton SP and then on to Givans SP. They even have a tree house you can rent above Colleton with advance reservations. Good winter fishing at the powerplant discharge there above Colleton. I have heard of people taking trips from Jacksonboro to the beach they said was nice. Get you a lowcountry guide sold in convienence stores and State Park stores. It has all the landing, canoe thrown in’s, camping spots, etc… If you know your daily range you can pick out plenty of trips. Check out SCPPA web site also.

Thanks for the reply, I was not sure how thick it was on either the north or south fork. I understand south of springfield (south fork) and south of Orangeburg it should be relatively clear of strainers, etc. Probably pull out at Hwy 21.
The upper portion I mentioned had a good bit of deadfalls over the river. We got over or under most but had to portage one. The Edisto at Pelion is only 8-10’ wide in a lot of places. I hear the upper end of the south fork is similar. Anywhere below O’burg you can travel ok in a jon boat and motor. No problem paddling.
