Good fishing right there! Congrats!
I personally like the rusty reel screws, makes me feel right at home, no matter which shirt you were wearing…or not wearing lol

I’m OCD as hell when it comes to my equipment. I saw the pictures of the rusty screws on the reel and nearly stroked out. LOL!
I can’t say I’ve ever thought of rigging the Trout Trick upside down. Does it change the action at all?

Little rusty sounds awful too but I need a big red to break it the rest of the way before I replace it. The drag is smooth as the day I got it but I’m gonna get a pic for y’all of what it looks like when I go this afternoon.
That was the last trout trick I had and he said the first hit he had a 20incher mangled it in the process of shaking the hook. He had to rig it how he could to keep it swimming good. As a side note the zman slim swims and elasitec stuff is so tough its shocking. I had them pulling the tail all day and it took no damage at all. Probally close to 100 hits. Definetly 1 of the more fun days I’ve had fishing recently. I was standing in water above the knee fishing trout on a 500 series. I was really feeling it.
Next we need to work on your photo resizing skillz.

Lil rusty and ill dusty. Fished the same spot this afternoon , similar time frame too. I didn’t have any slim swims and either the bite was off or the modded trout trick is not nearly as hot as the lightly weighted slim swim. About 10 hits and landed a flounder and lost either a large trout are small red like 18ish, that broke me off about 8ft away.
Awesome pic of the flat fish. Looks like you could just scoop him up.
