Ralph and I fished the Redfish Cup last Saturday and had a little good fortune, but the story of our big fish is a crazy one

If you don’t mind me asking, why did y’all fish brackish water instead of closer to the ocean?

Because we hadn’t pre fished and brackish water is what we mostly fish

Nice work Dave. You and Ralph form quit a formidable fishing team.
Typically, the fresher the water, the heavier the redfish. Less dolphin predation, and their bodies retain more water which equals more weight.

That’s interesting. I’ve never fished for them in brackish water.
Good job on the tournament men

The upper half of the Cooper (Bushy Park) is brackish and continues on to truly fresh water on up to the Tail Race and the Locks from Lake Moultrie. Few years back had a couple 4-5lb largemouth grab my cut shrimp off the bottom in Bushy. Wasn’t really surprised until the 3rd one was caught LOL… Have even heard of decent bream being caught around the corner from where those largemouths were caught! During the winter the spottail will bunch up back in those brackish creeks.

That may very well be true, but didn’t factor in to our plans. Just really had nothing to go on, so in that case go with what you know/ are familiar with! Thanks everyone.
