Southwest Banks 6-19-2010

Slow bite for us on Saturday. First knockdown was around 7AM, little guy that mouthed two or three baits, then nothing until 830. Had a double and put both in the boat. Had a few other strikes, some cudas and sharks, but that was about it. The radio was pretty quiet most of the day, we did hear someone talk about a sailfish and a wahoo out deep, but that was it.

Saw flying fish from 60’ on out to the deep. Scattered weed from 160 to 250’ish in between SWBanks and the Outcrop but didn’t find a well formed line anywhere. Covered about 210miles on the trip odometer between running out and trolling and running to find fish and home…it was a long day. On a plus note, the ocean was slick all day.

We just couldn’t get things going. No bottomfishing this trip, but next time, I can assure you we will. This was probably my worst day trolling in the last five years or so. I know these type days are a part of playing the fishing game, but it was brutal. I did learn some things though. It’s usually the days that the bite is very slow that you tend to pick up on the little things that make the difference between a good bite and a terrible one. our fish came on the small Zman lures with light leaders.

Hope everyone gets out with this nice weather and tears em up.

With a Zman lure in his mouth…

…because everything is a conspiracy!!!

but you did get to take pics with your nice new camera…next time snap one of a flying fish for me…they are my most favorite of all…cool lille things arent they!!!

Should have turn south just a bit. Two Sails release by 8am, saw two marlin free jumping. Saw one bust about three p-nuts out the water, really cool. Didn’t have the camera so I didn’t post, not to mention this is the first time in front of computer since Friday. Glad you all had a good time. Had I known you were out we would have called.
