Spades are unique among saltwater sport fish . No other can be seen in great numbers by the fisherman as they take ( or not take ) a bait. No other can be fished for by several boats anchored side by side without starting fights. Spades require a minimum of tackle, and folks, young and old, can catch them. They can drag most fish all over the ocean, and they are pretty good to eat. What more could anyone want in sport?
True, they don’t always bite readily, but there are tricks to overcome that problem, too, not the least of which is patience.
I can’t imagine an easier target for a bow ( or a shotgun), but that negates the value of one of the finest sport fish we have… Please leave the bows, the gigs , the cross-bows , and the rip hooks at home, and learn to outsmart your spades - but only what you need!
A perfect post.
What’s the difference between a bow and a speargun?
