Do you guys seriously eat those things? My dad used to take me fishing for them as a kid on all of the usual Charleston spots and remembered that he fried them up all of the time, but I didn’t really like fish as a kid.

I killed one in marathon last weekend thinking that I would give it a shot. Cut it open and the meat looked like charcoal. Didn’t realize that they were that dark inside. Is that what they look like in Charleston or is that a diet thing?

must be diet difference, here they have a dark section that i cut out but the rest of the meat is whitish in color. Just not a lot of meat on one unless its growed up.

That’s good to know. The one that I cleaned had some of the darkest fillets that I have ever seen. “Grey” would be an understatement.

They are usually white meat with a thick blood line when I clean them

grab the gaff and another cold beer

Skinnee, they do have a grayish color. They seem to turn much whiter when they are cooked tho.

Weird but true!

Taste good tho!

Mushy white meat if you do it wrong. Done right they are Delicious!

Shooting fish in the face is my hobby.

We always get a bunch of spades and I always give it away to the other guys and just a week ago decided to cook some up. It is as good as anything else in my opinion. Great texture as a matter of fact the flounder was slightly overcooked and I passed on it for more spade.

Plus they are a blast to catch…

I will take whatever you don’t want… don’t through them back!

Anybody ever catchem on Gulps? While I usually fish them with Jelly Balls , peeled Skrimp and occasionally White Squid, of which I had none of any.

So I broke out the 3 inch “Gulp” Molting color and after rigging five different ways finally had the Kids bending rods non stop .
