Hey I have a question for you all. I am in Florida fishing and we ran up on a school of about 100+ Spadefish. We caught a few but threw them back. I want to know can you eat them. Have any of you ate them before??
theyre excellent on the grill
If I’m posting, its because I’m sitting here at work, dreaming about fishing.
Eat them within two days or don’t keep IMO. Do not freeze. Fish is firm and mild. As stated, good on grill. It fries well too. It just has to be eaten fresh.

We eat them all the time. Electric filet knife makes cleaning them a breeze. Tastes best grilled. Don’t get too greedy, one fish will feed 4 people.

only had them once and deep fried it but tasted great!
They are good to eat.
Everything is better when it’s fresh, but we have good success with vacuum packaging and freezing the fillets. We always have some spadefish fillets in the freezer. They are very good on the grill even after freezing if you’ve handled them properly.

Have video on my gopro. Will have to get it downloaded for you all… FYI no we didnt spear them we caught them on rods but speared Snappers…
