Has anyone seen any spades or caught some? Are they any jelly balls out in the sound or front beach?
There are always lots of them at the 60 and 90 foot reefs.
We cut up the red part of the cannon ball into squares and use that. They also eat shrimp sometimes.
Spear gun works best.
Lots of jelly balls on the beach at Dewees Inlet Sunday.

Have caught spades on Cola Gummy Bears. Yes, I have.
I’ve had luck with peeled shrimp and lots of chum.

Some got to win, some got to lose…
Had spades boiling around boat for half day, but only one landed…it was a nice one. Focused more on bottom rigs. Had only frozen shrimp, maybe not best bait? But other problem was jacks eating anything that hit water. It was a real exercise in reeling in donkeys and tying rigs.
How far out did you run?
I was at the nearshore reef Monday and a momma and baby spade were circling my boat. All I had was shrimp, menhaden and artificial. They didn’t want anything I was offering. So sad cause I never get that close to them

Very small pieces of cut shrimp on small circle hooks, a split shot or two and you should be in business.
