Spades

Out at the Edisto Nearshore Sunday morning and the Spadefish were teasing us the whole time. Not having pieces of jelly to throw at them I tried everything I had with me. Pieces of shrimp, squid, and mullet on a line just under the surface and they wanted nothing to do with any of it.

Any tips you can share with me for the next time I see them?

They were hitting shrimp over at 4KI. We found out they liked bigger chunks of shrimp than the smaller pieces. We only put 7 in the boat but had about that many break offs. Some of the guys out there were bailing them 2 at a time. Looked like the guys with the gps trolling motors did best…they were able to park on the fish. We had to use those gps guys as drift points and pick off the fish on the edges of their hot spots.

Was out there Saturday and not much was happening. A couple under BSBs for me and that was it.

4KI is where we tore them up last weekend. they were eating all the cut squid we could throw at them.

We never saw any cannon ball jelly’s…our friend Grumpy suggested that they be getting harvested to be shipped off as someone’s dinner.

Anything supported by the UN can’t be good.

Claim… who did your life vest storage on your top? I’ve got the same boat and want that done to mine.

I don’t really know…it was there when I bought the boat in April. It came from Tampa then Wilmington. I suspect the original owner did it in Tampa.
