Oh we sure have comedians on this site

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

I hope you weren’t stereotyping Cubans.

Not sure if I am stereotyping them, but there have been some caught in the surf and just off shore! Don’t see why they can’t be caught off a pier!I do know that there is a size limit on them. If they are too small they have to be thrown back. I think the size is known as Elian!

Had a friend of a friend teach me a neat way to catch Spanish while trolling for other stuff. He took a short piece of mono and tied a small Clark spoon on it and tied the other end in a loop. Put the loop over the back cleat an tossed it over the tramsom. I guess the mono was 20ft long. He would check it now and again. Wasn’t to long he had a Spanish on it. We picked up 5 or 6 that way!

Dang, I may have to try that method. Sounds like the lazy man’s way to fish and that works for me.

D! I think that’s what they call bycatch. You have to remind yourself to check the line. I think we were draging them around for a while.

I know a guy that did the same thing for kings. The only difference was he used a length of bungee cord to soften the initial impact. He claimed to have landed a double header of 20 lbers once. I believe him.

It ain’t no mystery…this beer’s history!

Seen some littleuns busting bait outside the jetties last weekend.

Back in NC around Cape Lookout we caught ton’s of spanish and a few kings on hand lines tied to the back cleat. Put a #1 planner on there and just wait for it to release when there is a strike. Once you saw the planer spalshing in the water you knew you had a fish on. I’ve always been surprised that I never see anyone trolling handlines around here.

cool might have to try that sometime if i am on a boat. ive heard of such things working and will remember that for sure

for now stuck pitching gotcha plugs off the pier. still fun though :stuck_out_tongue:

Chucky! Was just funnin you about the Cubans! Don’t go searching the web for a Cuban rig!

hahah oh man … don’t worry i wont be searching for that haha
