Ran across two large schools of Spanish boiling the water in front of the lighthouse; tried throwing a Hopkins with no luck, even tried a cuda tube, no luck. I had a livewell full of menhaden, wondering if they would have hit a live lined pogy or are they feeding on glass minnows?
small pogies or glass minnows a casting spoon works but i like little gotcha plugs

The ones I have been seeing lately have been eating glass minnows. Smallest jigs you have burned on top will get em. Live lined piggy may garner some interest some days from bigger specimens some days no specimens
Thanks guys, I’ll give it a try, hopefully I’ll run across them again!?!

Question for you. Were you running up on them? I’ve learned that you cannot do that unless you are capable of making super long casts.
Try to see what direction they are heading by stopping and watching. Then motor well ahead of them and cut the motor. Let them come to you. Like most fish, if they don’t know you’re there, you’re much more likely to catch them.

Never ever leave the live bait in the live well. There are big spanish around like 2 to 7 lb fish. I heard some one caught a 10lbr around the jetties area. All the ones ive seen lately would destroy a menhadden. They were eating 6 inch greenbacks monday morning i clearly saw a few 3 to 5lb fish. Finger mullet are great and easier to keep then menhadden.
40 is right if there are ones that big in the mix. I haven’t seen any that looked like more than 2ish lbs. little ones like glass minnows.
