Any of you offshore guys been seeing any spanish mackerel on the way out in the mornings? I love fishing for them early mornings when they are there. Run and gun fishing! Wondering if there are any reports of them out this early.
How about in the harbor on the outgoing morning tide?
Likewise, and king reports?
Yes they are there or they were this past Sat. What is your preferred way to fish for them
Local Boy, Just having fun.
the couple times i’ve been out there for them, we went really early- around sunrise. Looked for large groups of diving birds feeding on glass minnows. Threw gotcha plugs at them.
I’ve also trolled for them when awaiting diving birds or when we didn’t see birds. Had much less luck that way.
Anyone ever fished at the end of the jetties for them with clark spoons or gotchas? I read on the forum at somepoint that at the end of the jetties there can be some. Can’t remember if it was north or south jetty or the ocean side or inboard side, so any advice here would be helpful as well. Thanks fellas!
I have troll and thrown clark spoons and flash spoons at them. Trolled menhaden and caught a few as well. Good luck

Anybody seen any in the harbor? Going to give it a shot in the morning but we might have to stay in the harbor since its calling for 3 ft. and it might get a little wet in a 17 ft. cc.
We caught 2 nice size spanish at the 2nd can last weekend, live menhanden
We see them on the tip of the jetties every now and then, look for the birds and throw Clark spoons at 'em.
Troll with clark spoons. A few on the surface and a few down and you will quickly be covered up with fish if you follow the birds
