Will 30 lb mono leader be enough for Spanish mackerel
Fishing? Going tomorrow if weather decent.
Tying it directly to braid with a uniknot. Last time they went for the swivels and cut me off at that junction.
Fluorocarbon is the way to go… 20-30 lb should be fine… Uni uni or albright knot straight to your braid.

Fluorocarbon is better but mono will work too. Although people stress the use of a clear heavy leader, I have caught large Spanish with wire leader on spoons before
Walked the pier on Folly on my break and saw a shiny swivel a Spanish had had its way with haha. CHOMP …
Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Too much junk.
Ten lb mono on a light rod/reel. Tie a longer Clark spoon without leader.
Longer Clark means less cut offs.

If you go the 10 Lbs mono route, you’d better have a few dozen clark spoon’s in your bag. I hear what you’re saying about a longer spoon, but where you get cut off is when you have a fish on and another comes and hits the spoon above the hooked fish.
Good Luck Kiblerws, get the grease hot if you get in to 'em!
Switch to using black swivels to eliminate that problem and use 40 lb. flourocarbon for your leaders. Tie the spoon directly to the leader. That’s all you need. I had the same problem with chrome swivels…the black ones seem to do the trick.

4’ of leader is all you need…this has always worked well for me.
