Hello everyone,
When would be the best time to start targeting spanish mackerel in the Charleston Harbor? Also where are the best places to surf fish in the Sullivans Island /IOP area? All responses are greatly appreciated.

July/August…October for surf fishing…anywhere there are some good depressions, pools and sand bars at low tide…come back when the tide covers them and surf fish. Some of the barrier islands can be excellent if you have a boat.

Okay thanks for the response.
The biggest Spanish I have ever caught was in June at the rips by the Broad River Bridge. When the green back herring show up the big Spanish are there too. Put on a live green back on a float, toss upstream and let it drift back while you fish for cobia.
