Coming in from an offshore trip, saw birds hovering and diving over a small area, some splashes underneath - - it was that hovering motion they make when they are over breaking fish that makes me think it was Spanish. Just South of the channel, 2 or 3 bouys in from the C Bouy. Gonna be rigged and watching for 'em.
they’ve been here for a few weeks now… A little spotty, but they will thicken up

thanks salt, wishin action was as hot as it was in may last year… but as mike says, i’m sure they’ll show. plenty to eat around here if you like filter feeders.
They were thick Saturday late morning around the first and second set of buoys beyond the jetties…hit most everything we threw including a chartreuse and white clouser I tossed a few times…left them busting to go look for bigger prey…found some of the prettiest water I have ever seen but no cobia or AJ out as far as #3. There were a few barracuda at buoy 7 but they turned their noses up at us and everything we threw at them. Won’t be long and the Spanish should be consistent in the harbor as well

Do the Spanish stop feeding during the hotter hours of the day? I’m sure early morning is better but are they that dependent on time of day? I have trouble making it out early but get out later in the day often.
Spanish Birds are the little terns.I c them and know Spanish are around.

they don’t stop feeding, but they go deeper. topwater action was hot 0630 till 0830 last thursday, then the fish quit pushing bait to the surface.
they can still be caught on trolling weights, planers and downriggers throughout the day, but depending on how bright and hot, and what time of year, the depth is key.
