Me and a few friends have been catching spanish casting plugs around the jetties, I would like to hang one on the fly, can anyone give me advice on flys, and type of leader to use for them

thanks

I picked up a few from the Charleston Angler the other day that are supposed to be great for the spanish/blues. I can’t remember what they’re called, but they’re epoxy and very similar to a “surf candy” fly.

Others may correct me, but I think you may need a wire leader or heavier lb. test to act as a bite guard.

Good luck and let us know how you do!

The gummi flies are nasty on spaniards. They don’t last all that long though. Epoxy glass minnows hold up a little better.

Crease flies! gotta love the topwater bite…

Anything that’s small in size and looks like a baitfish should get you bit, personally I catch a lot on a variety of white synthetics.

Stopped by the CA yesterday and the name of the fly is Beach Glass.
