Spare Prop for Twins

After losing an engine the other day, I was thinking about getting a spare prop with a different pitch that would allow the boat to get up on plane and move quicker when just one engine is available.

Has anybody ever tried this? Would there be too much stress on the good engine doing all that work?

Good question. Of course you would have to get one of each. Anybody?

Stumped on that one here! Definitly a good question. I would think that a different pitched prop that allows the single engine to operate at its proper RPM would be less stressfull on the motor?? Assuming that while running only one engine that engine is not able to reach WOT rpms.

what happened to your engine? and yes a smaller prop will help getting home quicker just keep trying one till you get the rpm and speed needed.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Threw it in reverse while at speed by mistake, trying to avoid an accident.
So far the flywheel and starter gear are hosed.
Hopefully that’s all.

I talked to ChrisV about this yesterday.
He said that I should go about 3 pitch sizes smaller than what I’ve got now. Will need two b/c of counter props.

Might not be a bad idea, it sucks limping in on 1 engine.
Aluminum props are about $150 each brand new.

also remember to bring along extra prop nut, they have a thing about jumping out of your hand everytime it’s removed out in the water
