So I just got my boat back from down in Charleston, ran great down there no worries. I poped off the cowling and the spark plugs have some rust on the outsides of them like they usually do after a year or so. It got me thinking and I was wondering how hard it is to replace them myself. I am a newer boat owner and am always looking to learn and tinker on her but i don’t want to screw up. It is a 60 horse 2 stroke Yammi three plugs in a central vertical bank. not sure what the gap should be, I only learned what that really was on utube the other night:flushed:, also what type of plugs. It is so hard to get down to see Chris V for basic level repair stuff since I live in Western NC and none of the places up here have a clue as i have been ripped off a good bit up here and am gun-shy. Is this something I could handle? thanks
I’m sure others will chime in. This is easy-peasy. Next time you are down in Charleston, drop by Charleston marine or any other boat service place and pick up the plugs you will need. (you can prob get them online somewhere too). They have plugs that are pre-gapped. The plugs should be torqued when installed. If you go to Harbor Freight you can get an adequate torque wrench for about $30. Unscrew old, put new in, and torque per your manual’s specs. Thats it!
