Semper Fi!

I like that realfish01 more every day, bottom line, nice catch Capt.Gregg, keep up the good legal fishing!try and keep patrick out of trouble.

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.

For our information I contacted DNR and spoke to law enforcement. I was told that when on the boat it falls under the boat limit -number of license holders on the boat. There has to be a license for every limit. They do not care who caught what as long as the fish are within the limits. I also call the coast guard and they had the same response. There is no special license for spearfishing it falls under the same rules and regs as hook and line. It is good to discuss these matters and I appreciate all responses. I do respect our wildlife and conservation is important to me. I also want to make sure that I am legal. The government changing limits every year makes it difficult to stay in line.

It ain’t no mystery…this beer’s history!

HAD A GOOD TIME GREG, I’M GLAD TO KNOW WHAT THOSE BROKEN ROCKS/CORAL LOOKS LIKE. OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS WE HAVE CAUGHT AT LEAST 100 GAGS IN THAT EXACT SAME SPOT. I HAVE SHARED THOSE NUMBERS WITH A FEW PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN JUST AS SUCESSFUL. VERY BEAUTIFUL BOTTOM

Nice catch Capt Gregg!

I think it all depends which officer you talk to. Different DNR guys will give different answers on that subject.

It’s too bad DNR doesn’t have a question and answer section on their website for clarification on things like this. Even when I’ve called I cant seem to get a straight answer.

if my 12 y.o., who is not required to obtain a fishing license, is fishing with me, can we keep 2 limits?

If my 12 y.o. goes fishing by himself along the shoreline and catches a limit of redfish, is this legal?

Gregg, this post has never been about what you killed. I'm not against what you are doing underwater. I'm against what you are doing on the keyboard... It's always been about what you post on the internet. Imagine yourself as one of those angry fishermen that hate spearfishermen and that blame spearfishermen for their own ability to not catch their limit. There are actually several on this board that read your post and thousands more that never respond... Their plight has always been that spearfishing is "unfair" and that it should be stopped. Several of us attended a SC DNR board meeting on July 15th, 2009 where a fisherman in Georgetown came to Charleston to plead that spearfishing should be banned in SC. That is what we are up against. The DNR board had very little knowledge of the spearfishing community here and asked a lot of questions. Luckily we were there to give the facts instead of relying on some older guy with his well connected legislator buddies to speak on our behalf.

When you post threads that clearly explain that the two divers went

PS, just for the record, I still think that it should be 2 gags per person…

This post reinforces why I don’t post pics or descriptive trip info on here anymore. I always abide by the law and limits when it comes to fish whether by rod & reel or spear. The constant critism on this site will eventually lead to a site where no one wants to post pics any more or provide interesting details of one’s trip. If I would’ve posted about this trip it would’ve been like this. “Went out on a boat in the ocean, got five fish, sorry no pics”. I do enjoy the pics of people’s trips on here and hope it doesn’t go the way of other sites I’ve seen go dead due to this type of activity. Even though some of the comments on this site can be interesting, I believe everyone enjoys seeing pics even more. I know many of my friends (nondivers) enjoy seeing what the areas they have been fishing actually look like below the surface. If someone feels the need to inform someone that they may be over limit or incorrect about something send them a private message.
As far as getting the limit for the boat, I have been on plenty of fishing trips, no diving, and one guy on the back was the only one that was catching grouper. The other fisherman had no problem accepting his catches as their own so they could go home with grouper. No matter how you look at it, 6 fish are gone from the sea whether one person caught them all or each person caught one. As long as you don’t exceed your limit based on the # of people whats the difference.I look at this from both sides because I am both a fisherman and a diver. I don’t believe in going out 2-3 days a week and limiting out each time either, the people that do that will be the first to complain that there are no fish here anymore when the populations are decimated.
Sorry this is so long but I just wanted to voice my opinion and I got carried away.

From what I’ve gathered from this site it’s mainly dudes trying to argue over who’s got the biggest pair. This thread is proof

I’ve given up learning anything useful or meeting any friends on this site. Time to just rant and brag/criticize everyone else. Awesome :face_with_head_bandage:
