special trip to chalreston

My brother and I are talking about taking a trip to Charleston not this weekend but the next to fish as much as we can. We dont have a boat so we will be wading flats. Any flats that one would be willing to recommend? Keep in mindwe are driving up from myrtle beach ro fish, then driving all the way back, so something that has some good promise would be awesome. Not asking for your secret honey hole, just a nice spot we can walk to and hopefully hook up some reds.

not gonna find many people willing to share walk-in flats locations.

So your best bet is to find a public park, bridge, or landing that is surrounded by marsh and hope for the best. Since you will be drving from MB, why not try around ICW north of Charleston.

You could always hire one of the flats guides in our area. I know it’s expensive, but if you and your Brother split the cost, it could be a trip you both remember forever. Fishing is GREAT right now, and our guides are on the fish…

We may go the giude route. I didnt expect many people giving up their flats locations. Just wanted a general area as a starting point. Not familiar with the area its hard to just wing it like I could here. Thanks for the info guys.

mbflyfisher, point out a couple walk-to wading flats up you way, for us. You know, just as a gesture of good faith. If you could include a couple pictures of you catching fish on those flats… that would be helpful.

Would be more than happy to share if they were here. Everything up my way is marsh muck that you will sink in to your armpits in a second. I am new to to this so I will be on the lookout. Most areas here thay have reds are best reached by kayak which I am trying to obtain in the very near future. I will certainly be hunting and will gladly share what I find/catch. Heading to north inlet sunday and will be sure to post some pictures from the trip.

I say this often; people will respond, in kind, to the efforts you show. If you keep us aware of what you are trying, I bet many people will be eager to move you to next step.

There are no “cuts” in fly fishing.

Google maps or google earth are your friends. Any flat that has good feeder creeks running in/out is worth trying. Every road leading to a barrier Island has acres of flats on each side. Good luck.
