Lucked into two of these reels with 65lb powerpro. Looking for suggestions on rods. Basically, I want these to be versatile setups. Some casting, some jigging, some bottom fishing. Suggestions?
Shimano Tallus Bluewater series, XH 7’
Edgewater 245cc
17’ Shamrock
Catalina 350
for bottom fishing get a Shimano Trevalla 5’8" XXH, for top water, throwing a plug, get a Shimano Terez (either a 6’10"MH or a 7’XH) I have both and love them…great warranty as well

What he said. Have a 1200 FA on a trevalla xxh and that thing will pull whatever you want off the bottom. Not good for casting, though.
I’ve got the Trevalla xxh as well (conventional though), and they’re my go-to grouper/bottom sticks. For all-around use, though, the Tallus goes with me. I’ve dropped back to dolphin, jigged bonita, bottom dropped for grouper, brought multiple 100+lb sharks to the boat, and landed several cobia with it.

Don’t take this the wrong way as I am going to be blunt, but if anyone does not listen to this guy they are just plan stupid. I took his advice and keep going back for more!!! Now I just need mother nature to work for me when I am home to learn some more.

No doubt Sells is an expert. I’m thinking Shimano all the way, and a Terez would be awesome…but I may have to sell some plasma to afford it. Went to a local tackle shop earlier to look at some rods, and they didn’t have anything that fit the bill—no heavy or extra heavy spinning Trevala, Tallus, or Terez. I was ready to drop 5 bills if they had the Terez, but they had zero.
