Temple fork is the truth
Look at where Jesus went to pick people. He didn’t go to the colleges; he got guys off the fishing docks.
Temple Fork makes a strong $100 rod.
The Penn Battalion rod has a nicer feel for $99
Shimano Convergence too for $79
Love the Triumph too $90

Not a big fan of the St Croix rep but I have used the Triumph series rods from St Croix before and if your budget is $100 or less, that’s a tough stick to beat. Various actions and lengths to cover multiple applications.
I’d normally recommend ALX Rods but they start just under $150 (IKOS series spinning) and my favorite line of ALX spinning rods (BOKU series) starts just under $200.
No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.
I picked up a 7’ medium action Ugly Stick Inshore Select…I really like it. It’s much lighter than the regular Ugly Stick and lighter than the Ugly Stick Elite series…and, at $60, you can’t beat the price point…not to mention the no questions asked warranty.

Just posted this in another thread but, Star Seagis 7’6" 8-17, money well spent!!
quote:Fish this exact rod paired with a sustain 3k. great combo. As for the tfo rods, they are great, but I am not buying a 100$ tfo. The only 2 I own both ran around 250$ each

I have one of these and for an inexpensive rod, I really like it.

Love the St. Croix Triumphs. I have had a problem with losing the ceramic rings in the eyes of a few rods but that’s probably my own fault.

I used to think the same thing. Until I used a buddies custom rod built on an inexpensive rainshadow blank. I’ve since built my own and will be building an entire selection of rods. I’ll never buy a mass produced rod again.
Now if you throw popping corks or cut bait. I don’t believe it makes a difference. But for artificial it does.
But my rod is build on a light weight (4-10) blank. I have just under $100 into it. I swear I can feel a fish fart nearby.
