Ol Pallet and myself trolled separately Saturday, so we thought we would take it easy on Sunday. I joined up with him and LnS in Georgetown. And since we all three had girls coming, we didn’t get started until late.
Left the fuel dock at 9:50 am. Ran out towards the Hole and started trolling in 140 ft or so. As soon as we stopped, we had a girl on her first offshore trip chumming. However, she was a trooper. Ten minutes later, the first dolphin hit and she handled it. We continued to circle the area with a Sportfisher and pick at the dolphin. Had two doubles. Did not lose a fish. At 4, we stopped trolling. Ended up with 12 dolphin.
Ran 20 miles in and Pallet and LnS got out the dive gear and went for a swim. Meanwhile, I set up a bottom rig for the girls. While they were diving, the bottom rig was getting plastered by small vermilion snapper. Fun way to pass the time. Also had a decent sized BSB.
After 30 minutes the guys came up with 4 grouper and a hogfish. It was now 6 and we headed towards the hill- a lot smoother than going out and were able to run about 32 knots the whole way. Docked the boat about five minutes before a hard rain hit.
Not bad for a half day. One dolphin bit Pallet’s leg. That was pretty funny. The big catamaran ran really well today and handled the slop pretty good this morning.
And before somebody says something, there is a tuna in the picture. Pallet took a tuna from the day before to make sushi on the boat. Pretty tasty. Only used on side of it, don’t know why we hung it up with the others.
Scootin, I hope I’m not stepping on any toes by posting a Clarendon County report. I am a native, so I thought it would be ok. I apologize for my lack of smileys as well.
And Chunky Dunk, pictures don’t lie.
