No chumming lol
You should have seen the amount of chum coming out of the fish we cleaned this weekend…instead of cutting more up i need to start cutting open the fish we catch…I fish had 12 pieces alone AND a whole herring…ha

Heard the bait situation was a cluster this weekend. Any word on how David is doing? Need a rule amendment to be able to chum

Just need to make sure there are no hooks in the chum.
Getting bait Sunday AM was a bit of a cluster for sure. Most of the guys I talked to were easy going about it, but there was one that kinda pizzed me off. We were waiting in the long line to get into Lake World, and a guy came from the dam side & cut right into the line. We found out they sent a load of bait to Ned’s, so we pulled a u turn and were one of the last few that got any bait. Planned on being on the water by 5:30 but launched the boat about 6:30.

I was liking the no chumming rule. Less hassle, less expense, don’t have to stop at the bait shop and the boat stays clean…all the reasons I prefer to fish with lures over bait. Either way, I think Spoonmaster and I are going to fish it together.
I am fine with no chumming as well. I was just giving Tim a hard time. It is easier to keep them under you if chumming but as long as your catching, the fish will Chum the water as well on the way up…

Personally, I prefer no chumming myself, but talked to a few people outside of on here as well and I think we will get a better turnout if chumming is allowed. Since this is the first time trying this and spoon fishing can be hit or miss, we’ll allow chum this time and see how it goes.
It doesn’t necessarily mean you have to chum if you don’t care to. Of coarse, it may help get them turned on or hang around longer, but it’s only a 1 fish/person weigh in, so it’s not as much advantage as it would be if it was aggregate weight.
On a side note: Im in CA working this week and if I get done before early, I’m hoping to get some striper fishing on a party boat Friday in SF Bay. Sounds like they are not very big, but would be interesting to try. I believe they use live anchovies

True, but unfortunately I’m working at a customer site, so I only have my dress flip flops with me.

You have a head count on how many are fishing Sunday?

Hard to say right now, since I just asked people to let me know tomorrow instead of trying to keep up with who is in or out. I’ve heard from a few fishing for sure and we lost a couple that were going to fish.
Think it’s about 6 boats definate so far and I’m thinking will wind up being about 10 boats or so? I did post on FB too yesterday, so hopefully pick up some there too.

So, after people cancelling due to other commitments and then a few with concerns about the wind, there was still 4 boats fishing anyway so we decided to go through with it and fish this morning.
Of the 4 boats (9 people), we had 1 with a 3 man limit, one with a 2 man limit, one with 8 fish for 2 guys fishing…
…And then there was me and Happy Bob with our 1 fish caught about 30 before the weigh in. LOL
Winner was on DJ’s (Striperking82) boat with an unknown weight, since the tournament director forgot to bring a scale. (7 lbs?)
Since we had a small turnout, we decided to just make a “winner takes all” payout and I believe it was $90.
A bit windy at times, but turned out to be a beautiful day without the normal heat and humidity we’ve been seeing.
Was a great time trying something a little different and would definitely like to try it again next weekend while the spoon fishing is good (for some)

If you’re doing it again next weekend, I’ll be in. Will stay tuned.

Enjoyed meeting everyone today. I was the one in the Egret flats boat. Good to put some names and faces together.
Nice meeting everyone this weekend as well. 91tiger that is fine ride you have there.
I enjoyed it as well. (It would have been better if my captain could have put us on the fish that were eating.) But really, we just couldn’t get them to bite. The screen had plenty of marks, but no takers except for the one Tim caught at 9:30. nice to meet everyone and I look forward to the next one.
