Their range appears to be expanding northwards over the last couple years, they are becoming common in many areas around and just south of Charleston
My son has taken photos of them in several locations down that way. Someone I know has them living right across the street from his house.

They’ve become more and more standard sight lately, especially south of Charleston. CawCaw Park in Ravenel has a good population of them.
Seen a couple down by the bridge the other week
Barbawang Identified one on this sight for me several years ago that I saw near Fields Point. Wife and I saw a couple in the marsh by Steel Bridge last week. The ACE basin has many of these showing up.
