I have spun the prop hub on my river boat. 40 hp Yahama 1995 model year. Has anyone ever done this before? I found a place on 378 behiend mid Carolina Marine that does these types or repair to props. Does anyone recommend going that route?
I have only bought SS rod holders from them, but a friend of mine just had them fix up his aluminum prop and he was very satisfied.

I had the hub spun on my 175 merc about 3 years ago. Went to the Prop Shop in West Columbia, they can press a new hub for you. Unfortunately for me I blew out 3 cylinders when the prop spun due to the ramped up RPMs when the hub spun. Might want to run a compression check before you spend any money.

It is not blown or at least I don’t think it is. I noticed it right off and put it back on them trailer immediately. I will run a check when I get home.
The prop shop was the place I was referring to in my post. I was going to take it by one morning this week.
I spun a hub last month on my 175. The guy at the Prop Shop suggested I install a Flo-Torque kit rather than having him press one back in. I did so, and it was a quick and easy fix for $50. Don’t know if they have the kits for the smaller outboards, but it wouldn’t hurt to look. They even come with a new thrust washer.
