Took my daughter out again this morning in hopes of capitalizing on the minimal winds predicted. Tried to do it out of the pop-up blind to help her try out the new tripod I rigged up for her to help with stability. First 3 we saw proved to be way more difficult to get into kill shot position due to the break between each window. No success so the pop-up blind had to get put back in the truck. As we arrived to the truck to lighten the load and move to another location we saw some guys unload their squirrel dog and track down the road…they made 3 shotgun blast down in the area where we were heading too and that seemed to send the squirrels into retreat in that whole area. We have not had that low numbers of sightings since we have started hunting in there but one thing is for sure and that the loud shotgun blast certainly seems to affect the squirrel movement!!!

Love it!! that’s some cool stuff!
Have you thought of using a .410?
Another thought is start her out on brasing against a tree and ween off the tripod, then get her to free stance.
Once she gets a squirrel, mark the spot and don’t retrieve. stay still, squirrels are not real smart and after a few minutes will start moving again, if they don’t see movement.
Wish they would run the season into April…
