SSWA Child & Boater Water Safety Event

On Wed, May 9 @ 6:00 p.m. we will devote our club meeting to water safety. Since that topic is bigger than just our club, we have decided to open this meeting to the public so we can get the maximum benefit for our community. The US Coast Guard will be putting on both events.

We have the pool reserved for the water safety event. We encourage bringing your child AND their life preserver. USCG volunteers will inspect all PFDs to ensure that they are appropriate for your child and in serviceable condition. They will be instructing kids and parents on the proper use of their PFD and also do some fun in-water demonstrations on the “do’s & dont’s” of life jackets.

Of course, we want to make this :sunglasses:fun:sunglasses:, also! We will have coloring books, stickers, tattoos, and a few “suprises” for the kids that participate. We will have a life guard on duty, so once the safety seminar is over the pool will be available for the kids to enjoy.

The adults will then move to the pavillion for the boater safety seminar. 2011 saw the fewest boating fatalities on record. Awareness has been the key, and we hope this seminar will help maintain this positive trend.

SSWA will provide free food for the event. Miler CC will have drinks available. If you like what you see and want to join, we will be accepting new members.

Our meetings are held at Miler Country Club. For directions, please visit http://www.summervillecountryclub.com/.

If you have any specific questions send me a PM. SSWA has just turned one year old! We have 130+ members and continue to grow with our focus on providing a family friendly club devoted to education, community, conservation, and of course - catching fish!.

Please join us for a meaningful and fun evening!

Thanks Vince!
I also want to make it clear that no one will be pressured to join our club. This is for the benefit of our community. I’d like to publicly thank Vince for spearheading this event for SSWA.

Dude, Megan had the vision, she’s just not old enough to drive to meetings! LOL!

Agreed on membership. Just come, enjoy and learn. If the club seems appealing, folks are welcome to join.

Vinman,

Congrats on the one-year anniversary. That’s pretty awesome that y’all’s membership is 100+ in a year. I live in Charlotte, but I’m down in the Lowcountry on business multiple times each month and would be interested in joining your club. Please shoot me a pm with any pertinent information when you have a second. And oh yeah, GO 'COCKS!!!

PM sent. No Gamecock fan discount, but no Clemson surcharge, either! LOL!

I hope you all can join us this Wed for the event. It should be a great time and a chance to learn, too! See you there!
