Has anyone got a report from the sound. I went two weeks ago and caught only 8 shrimp. Hope things have gotten better. I am planning on going again this weekend.Hope someone has had better results.
Repairman, I just know some folks went out there on the flats on the opening weekend and they did not do very well. I don’t have any more recent reports.
Haven’t heard any change. 1 quart or less is what I have been hearing, and nobody has gotten enough nerve to go try again.

Went last friday, 1/2 cooler of small and medium. Should pick up after the full moon last weekend. Could have been worse. The wife was backing the trailer down the ramp and the front left brake line broke on the truck. Never saw a trailer go up a landing that fast. Lol!!!

couple of Marines i know hit up a floating dock on the air station and the report was promising 4 hours and they got half cooler of med shrimp. they are starting to show up for us down here it looks like…
I’m staying off st pierre creek and the shrimp are plentiful but small with a few med and large mixed in. Was much better here last year.
Buggy may be som stank in your report. I was between the fuel docks and PP on Tues night, Yea we coolered out but they were most on the small size. with maybe 45 to 50 med shrimp., (0) large in the cooler. ^0 to 70 count. We are 5 to 7 weeks off from large shrimp. here in beaufort. I have shrimped wallas creek battery Creek pigion Point near the fuel docks and Between lemon and Daws. I have found maybe 30 Large shrimp all together. most are small with a med mix… Just saying…

We shrimped Otter and only found small ones, but lots of them, should be good in late Oct. and Nov. if they will stay!
It appears that things are picking up somewhat. We are going to try again this weekend. If things are bad again we will have to find another place to shrimp. I love to shrinp in the day time.

We have been 6 times this year. Been every inch of St Helena and havent seen a shrimp larger than a 35count (head on ) anywhere. Med/Large on the back side of Monkey is hard to believe. There are shrimp there but they are the same size as PP and Fuel Dock ( 40-50counts). We did have guys next to us the other nigh that said they were catching them good and proceeded to watch them catch 10-12 a throw and they were the size of your ring finger. They said good mediums…head to tail shrimp were 3-4 in…Take the tail and you have a 60 count. Thats a small shrimp. No shrimp at Lands End is a mystery but they are thick as thieves at PP. May take you 3 hours to head but if some people shrimp for 4 hours at a time I guess thats not an issue. Only true Med/Large shrimp I have personally seen have come from Bulls Bay.
Harbor river between Hunting Island and St Helena? Looks like a good spot. Anybody try out here yet? Looks like it would hold shrimp. Has a lot of oysters.
I may do some scouting out there this weekend…
Whats your imput?

A buddy of mine has posted several 3/4 coolers out of St Helena on Facebook, but I think more up river. We were there late last week. The night before I got there, they got 3/4 cooler but the tides had everyone too tired to try again that next night. The guys across from us got 3/4 as well, they claimed mediums but our crew would admit to smalls.

Have heard multiple reports that there are shrimp in Trenchards as well but again size is still small. I caught a few, 5-10 a throw in a hole in the story river 3 weeks ago. Have not seen any shrimp anywhere like that baiting but they were very scarce in the deep water. Go to any shrimp dock and they have no LARGE shrimp. Very hard to find 16-20s or even 21-25s at market. If those guys arent catching them we are a ways off from seeing anyshrimp in the rivers with any size.
Last Friday during the outgoing tide we were covered up with very small shrimp, small but plentiful.
About a week ago I shrimped the Jenkins creek inlet flat on the rising tide and got a little over a quart of smalls with heads off. Used bait binder patties and waited. About 6 passes with generally 2-3 per cast and best cast got 7-8. Then they died off altogether.
Just think I need to wait to mid to late Oct.

I’ve gone 4 times n got 4 coolers but there small 50count at best end of oct should be better
quote:Just to let everyone know we went Sat. and shrimped on the mud flat. Braved the wind but it all worked out because of the winds at our backs and the tide pushing in we were able to work the poles o.k. Got a full cooler of small to medium shrimp on a low going high tide. overall was a good day.

Went today, got to the landing and started backing down towards the ramp and noticed smoke coming off of the hub on the driver’s side axle. Went ahead and dunked it to cool it off. Back bearing was gone… dang it!! Off loaded the boat and went ahead and changed the hub out in the parking lot. We got lucky that we made it to the water. An hour later we were on our way out.
We set up poles at one of our go-to spots and baited both end poles… nothing. Moved to the spot where we caught them on opening day, set one pole and baited it… nothing. This ain’t looking good. Then we moved across the flat after talking to a guy we met from our home town that was down there as well. He gave us a little advice and we followed it.
2 1/2 hours later and we were coolered out. My first throw on the poles looked like anexplosion under water. By the time the shrimp moved in, everyone else was gone, just us and the extremely nice gentleman who pointed us in the right direction.
Most shrimp were small/medium with a few good sized ones mixed in.
