Is shrimping a sport I should start to take interest in. Just gettin’ goin’ on the fishing thing, and finding that a challenge by itself.
Shrimpin sucks. Don’t waste your time anywhere with it. Save the shrimp for us with nothing else to do…
Just kidding its awesome! But it really ie a challenge. Honestly, see if you could shrimp with different people a couple times this season and get a feel for if you want to before you buy everything for next season.

Good point yakman, most new people want to go at it full steam thinking it’s an easy thing but find out different.
Double D.
shrimping is one of those things that I have found is a great way to be on the water with friends, enjoying the Fall temps, throwing back a few cold ones and if you get it right can also reward you with some of the best shrimp you’ll find anywhere…sure there can be a learning curve, but when you dial it in it can be very satisfying…

go back to dropping a 12’ net over the side of a 24’ boat- don’t forget your playmate and iphone so you can show us how cool you are in real time.
internet fishing comedy gold so good it stays fresh year after year!
doubly disappointed this pointless dimwitted banter continues to crop up, yes. maybe go to a lighter leader and work on your presentation… your bait’s getting stale ![]()

Capt Fritz,
I love baitbinder, why do you ask? I find it absolutely delicious when I wrap it in a fat South Carolina shrimp and either boil it. fry it, grill it, or blacken it. Any other questions?

Just out of curiosity what do you think the wild shrimp that are not caught over bait are actually eating? I’m guessing anything dead or alive they can find but I really would like your input into this burning question?
Mr Hardware again
Shrimping isn’t a sport, it’s just shrimping.
Shrimpin aint no sport! Its hard work! But lots of fun sometime!
If fishing is a sport, then tell me why shrimping isn’t one.
Sluggoman…they pulling your chain dude. Gotta have pretty thick skin on this site…especially of you get near the offshore threads.
If you want to try your hand at shrimping, by all means do so. Worse thing that could happen? you sit in a boat on the ocean and kill a few 12 oz beverages. Best thing? you wind up with a cooler full of bugs to go with those frothy beverages.
want an experienced hand to show you the ropes, give me a shout. I am without a ride again this year but I can throw an net and know the harbor and bulls bay pretty good.

Mr Hardware againI’d say anything dead or alive would be correct. I was crabbing the other day and whenever I pulled up my chicken backs that didn’t have a crab on, there would be a shrimp or two attached to it.
