Do any of you have any opinions on how a microskiff-type boat works around here? Ankona, Mitzi, IPB, etc?

All of these skiffs are killer. Just be careful when crossing big water on windy days. Trout, reds, shrimps it'll work. If you plan on poling the flats a lot than you might want to sacrifice a dryer ride for an easier poling boat like the ones you've mentioned. Feel free to check out some videos on the link below and see folks in the lowcountry fishing out of a microskiff. Hope this helps and good luck with your boat search.
