Hey everybody!
2004 150 hp Yamaha 4 stroke.
Cranked fine while fishing Saturday, last spot solenoid would only chatter. Tested solenoid with meter and found nothing. Jumped the starter across with needle nose and only got a minor spark. Starter did nothing. Tells me the solenoid could be either way and bad winding in the starter.
Anyone have any experience?

If you had no voltage at solenoid, keep things simple and start with Battery lead connectors and work outward. .
jumper cables straight from the battery to the starter
if it works, its not a starter
then jumper cables from battery to ground and solenoid
if it works its not the solenoid
lets start by load testing the battery
