hey guys my starter died, was wondering if any one knows a local that rebuilds them? not really wanting to pay the $515 bucks for a new one, i gave it a bench test and pops up and spins but not near fast enough. most likely needs its guts cleaned, i doubt the brushes are bad. thanks! i’m in Charleston.

Allied - They are located on Rivers Avenue next to Interstate Battery across the street from Bootjack. Fraction of the cost of a new one if they can rebuild it and usually pretty quick service too. You might also try Carolina Auto Electric on upper meeting, believe they might do rebuilds there.
i went to Carolina Auto Electric today, they did a free estimate and found that she was in real bad shape from taking on salt water, alot of it was rusted bad, they showed me it wile it was apart. but at the same time they found me a brand new starter for $245 with tax less then half the cost of the one on boats.net and talk about service, they were friendly as can be, and answered all my question without even batting a eye lash, gave me great direction over the phone as well. this was a great shop i would recommend and i will use them again with out any regrets! thanks guys!
