Stator question

On an older mercury 135 (1989). I have the new stator. Can i just pull the flywheel and replace the stator and plug up the wires, put it back together and it’s done or are there adjustments, such as timing or anything else that has to be set that I would know nothing about :sunglasses:

Thanks
Rick

I used to have an 89 mercury 200 hp. I replaced the stator myself and it was pretty easy. I would think yours would be about the same. I would take a picture of the wiring and draw a chart of where everything goes before you start removing all the leads to your old one. Other than that it should be plug and play

Thanks,
Plug and Play is what I was wanting to know. I didn’t know if there were any gaps to be set or anything else. Also, I was wondering if I need a pulley puller to get the flywheel off. I have the stator with 6 wires and I would swap them out one at a time to get correct.
The motor runs but has the original stator on it and I was just going to put a new one on as I start to go offshore again. It is one of a pair of twins.

Thanks for your reply,
Rick

How would you determine if it is the stator or the voltage regulator, if your engine is not charging?
