Staying Home for a bit

Monday was a really good and bad day. I was reading in the other post about having to go hang out at the landing because of the rain and thunder-been there and done that before! Anyway, when the thunderstorm hit Monday about 4:30 my house recieved a direct hit from above-I was there fortunately along with the wife-house caught on fire when the lightening bolt made a ground through my dryer vent tube. Coolbreeze and I used to call ourselves “team lightening rod” but this was ridiculous! Anywayz, have lots of stuff to get repaired/replaced but the family and animals were all ok. Have a 2k deductable so disretionary money is no longer discretionary . Just glad it didn’t hit the boat:sunglasses:!

Look at it this way, you’ll get a bunch of new house electronics for a fraction of the cost … a new A/C will set you back around $5K if you had to replace it yourself …

Glad everyone’s okay - that’s the most important part … (immediately followed by the boat, of course) …:smiley:

… it’s my Wife’s fault we HAVE to fish !!!

Good thing you were home! Glad it turned out “ok”
So did you actually have a blaze you had to fight ? If so, what did you fight it with?

Glad you and your family are alright, Todd. Holler if you need anything(except for the 2 grand, can’t help there).

Keep an extinguisher(sp?) in the kitchen just cause. The kitchen area and the laudry room are close to each other so the wife handed it to me-problem was where the dryer vent was under the house (but was on fire - lint) Biggest issue was smoke damage. Hats off to the crew on Corley Mill road, Lexington and the trucks from Irmo - less than 10 minutes and all 3 stations were there. Going back home in a minute to meet the Serve Pro guys and see what clean up needs to be done.
Also have to say that State Farm has been great. I have never had a claim and really had no idea what to expect. The local guy I use is Scott Amick. These guys offered to just write us a check to pick up whatever we needed before the adjuster ever even showed up. You hear so many horror stories you don’t know what to expect.

We have State Farm as well (Denise Thomas) and all I can say is they are great …

We’ve always had State Farm even when we lived in Florida …

5 Hurricanes and never had an issue with them covering what needed to be done …

They cover our house, all our vehicles (4 + RV), and the boat and we only pay $250 a month for full coverages and low deductibles ($250 for vehicles/vessels & $2K on house and out bldgs.,) …

Glad to hear you’re not having any further issues other than the initial damage …

I went to school with Scott. I haven't seen him in a few years, but he was always a good guy.
