Need new cable, mine froze up. Rotary style for Evinzude. Need 10’-0". Who has used ones or the best prices on new ones in the Murrels Inlet / Myrtle Beach area? I will be on vacation there week of 21st & was going to try & pick one up. Better yet, does anyone in that area have a way to unfreeze it. I know they make pumps for other types of cables that pumps lubicate into them but not sure about ones for outboards.
I freed mine by knocking it free with a hammer( probably not smart I know) then taking it out and using a tool for brake drums I believe…it’s basically a drill attachment with 3 small sharpening stones that expand out in the tube…it smooths out the old rust and grease…it’s your cable is not busted, you can reuse it, but if you can find one easily, just replace. Got the stones for the drill at advanced auto. Hope this helps
Scotts pad with coat hanger and wd40 works well to. Just bend the hanger around the pad and put it in the drill
I clean mine with a gun cleaning rod and 12 gauge bore brush attached to my drill. Cleans it out for a year. Thinking about buying a stainless tube the next time I have to clean it out.
great ideas, I’ll give them a try.
Thanks for the help.
