Steering froze and then broke

Got it unfrozen for a shrimping trip and buddy got it stuck and broke a tooth. Anyone remember how hard it was to change the steering cable and helm piece?
It’s a 1700 Key West CC. Merc outboard. Can I get the cable and helm piece local in stock (Chris V)? Remember the avg cost? I understand there are two types of helms.
Also need a windshield for it if anyone knows of one unused.

Butler marine may have your windshield. I have gotten 2 from them for my old Key West 1720

a new steering system is about $189
do not install a used steering system
its not that difficult, unless you have to remove the motor to get the cable out and back in the steering tube on the motor
