Stella 30K Drag test

I am headed to Canada next week to fish for giant Bluefin tuna and test both the new Shimano Stella 30000 and the Diawa Dogfight 7000. Here is a quick back alley test to get a feel for what I’ll be in for. Planning on standup, spin gear, no harness just a plate. Trying poppers on the second day which will be absolute torture on the long rods.

Too bad you do not have a Torque 9 to take with you to compare.

My Zebco 33 Rhino could do the same thing.

Not enough line capacity and the weight load on the boat may be jeopardized carrying that thing. We fished one last year in NC, it was not allowed on the boats after a few trips with no fish, it was cursed…

I am not affiliated with Penn…

Skinnee- What line capacity will I have with #130 braid on the Zebco?

Thanks for sharing that courtland and hopefully some video of bluefin compared to that tahoe!

You could make a 10 hook chicken rig and drop it into a school of AJs here. That would work it out a good bit.

Come on now, line capacity isn’t the issue the TRQ9 gets roughly the same capacity as the Dogfight 7000 and the Stella 30000 weighs 5OZ more than the TRQ9. Must be a curse…

Good luck out there looking forward to seeing some pictures.

Captain has to keep the boat in position. If we get spooled, it’s definitely his fault!
