I just bought a stereo & speakers for the Lund and I’m unsure what kind of mounting kit I need. The automotive kits I’ve found are all vehicle specific. West Marine is no help. I’m mounting through 3/4" thick material. Any help is appreciated.

Make a plate to fit inside a 50cal ammo can. Mount one of those floppy rubber antennas to the side of the can and put some quick connects for your speaker wires in the side of the can as well. Also put enough power wire out through the side of the can with alligator clips to attatch to the battery. Make all the through can connections water proof and then mount the stereo to the plate where it will fit inside of the ammo can when the can is closed. Then all you have to do is leave enough speaker wire hanging loose to hook up to the ammo can. This will not only make the stereo last much longer, but it will be completely removable from the boat. I had a buddy do that on jon boat and it works like a charm and he probably only has $10 in the whole thing. It’s not pretty, but if you want inexpensive and functionality, thats the way to go.
