Anyone have any photos of how they mounted a trolling motor to the stern of a Carolina skiff?
I would think it would need to be mounted on a kicker bracket like they make for small outboards. It sounds like a good idea. I would love a trolling motor.

This pic is from when I first got my boat but I can take more if you need a better idea. The guy that mounted this just bolted on a piece of wood. This is an old boat though, I wouldn’t want to do this with a new skiff lol. It works great and I like having it in the back because I like to be able to have access to everything from the back of the boat. The motor is a motorguide varimax 55lb 36 inch shaft.

You’ll have a lot better control if you have the TM up front. My son recently picked up an old Whaler w/o a TM. I had a transom mount motor to give him, so I had the shaft extended and had Happy Bob build a mount for it on the front. Swapping the head around to make it point in the right direction to steer from the front is just a matter of loosening a screw and spinning the head 180. You can then just pick up a 3’ tiller extension handle.
You may want to look into doing something like this.

Thanks. I may look into that. I have a transome mount from an old boat and was trying from buying a new TM. Do you mind asking how much he charged and his contact info? Thanks

Remember the shaft would need to be extended as well, since transom mount TM’s obviously have a much shorter shaft. Mark at a place called The Crappie Hole in Chapin did it for me. I think that was about $75.
