Any hints or suggestions on catching my first otf. I walk North and South folly from the inlet to the river. My casting still needs some work, but I think I’m getting there. I’ve been throwing Clouser minows for Redfish and trout and crab patterns dragged slowly on the bottom for Flounder. Is there anything that any of you finally figured out that helped you get there?
Thanks.
Copperhead crab for reds has been working for me… CA has them. I just put it a couple of feet in front of them and twitch it a little…as long as they see it, they tend to inhale it.
Good luck!!
needlefish flies like those used for cuda;s have always been deadly for me in nov and dec. on the redfish during falling through low tides. one hook, not the tandems…as they generally take it down to the crunchers.
Clousers in a variety of colors. Chart/White, Electric Chicken, Black/Chart, or Black/Orange with copper flash. Keep trying, look for oyster beds and structure. You will eventually get one

what they said…if you are blind casting, consider an intermediate line, will get your fly down into zone quicker, allowing you to spend more time manipulating fly and less time waiting for it to sink…
